There are sometimes long periods of time where my brain seems to get stuck when it comes to certain parts of reading and writing. A few years ago, I automatically ended everything with an extra “e”. I don’t know why. Maybe I just thought the “e” would be silent. Maybe seeing words like “olde” and “shoppe” short circuited something.

Other times, certain words give me problems. Lately, that word is “sleepy”.

All I see when I see “sleepy” is “sheepy”, and I’m not entirely sure of why. Maybe the “l” melded with “e” to form “h”, and my brain just decided to turn the whole word into “sheep” with a “y” at the end. That could also be because of the expression “counting sheep” to  help you fall asleep.

And here we have the word, sheepy.

It’s only a matter of time before I begin using it in casual conversation. It’ll be interesting to see how that goes down.

As for now, I need to get a few more things done before I start getting sheepy.
