I’d meant to get an entry up sooner, but the one I’ve drafted is in desperate need of reworking. Since my brain’s just not up to it right now, I thought I’d bring up this article on the Wright’s Law web page out instead.
The article provides some great back story, but if you’re not up for following that link, you can read the resolution right here. Basically, it’s an official call to schools to acknowledge the prevalence of dyslexia, how important it is to offer proper accommodations and empowerment for those with it.
If you have a moment, please contact your representative and encourage them to support it. If you don’t know who your rep is, check out the handy-dandy tool the US House of Representatives has to find them.
It’ll send you over to the rep’s official page where you’ll be able to find out how to send the letter to them. I already wrote up my own letter and e-mailed it to my rep, but you can use this sample letter composed by the Yale Center for Dyslexia and Creativity, if you’d like.
Here’s hoping this step in the right direction leads to more!
